Google has announced a new type of Knowledge Panel exclusively for publishers.
This new Knowledge Panel occupies the entire above-the-fold section of search results, aiming to provide searchers with comprehensive information about a publication.
When users search for a publisher by name, the new Knowledge Panel is displayed. It includes:
– A description of the publication
– A link to Wikipedia
– Notable awards received
– A sample of frequently covered topics
– Claims reviewed by a third party
The information within the Knowledge Panel is intended to acquaint searchers with the publication’s tone, expertise, and history.
Google has indicated that they will continue to refine and improve this feature, suggesting that future updates are anticipated.
Although a publisher’s Knowledge Panel appears at the top of the search results, it does not influence the rankings of other pages from that publisher.
These Publisher Knowledge Panels are generated by Google, and individual publishers do not have the option to opt-out.
